Public opinion: housing very expensive

Nearly three quarters of the Czech population think that the current housing prices in the Czech Republic are very high. The opposite opinion is held by 8 % of inhabitants. The survey conducted by Median agency shows such results. 41 % of respondents strongly agreed with the statement that housing is currently very expensive. The opinion of “rather yes” was favoured by 32 % of respondents. The survey also showed that over one half of respondents are not considering purchasing a flat or a family house at all whereas 4 % are certainly considering this. Over 7500 people were inquired last year between April and mid-September. A similar survey was recently conducted by the EU agency, Eurobarometer. Its results are very similar, however, the Czechs are at an average position in terms of satisfaction in the area of housing. The highest dissatisfaction with the housing prices is in Eastern and Southern European countries.
