Construction production declined by 8,1 % in January

The construction production in Slovakia declined by 8,1 % to EUR 257,7 mill. year-on-year in January 2010 whereas the average daily production decreased by 3,2 %. After seasonal adjustments the January construction production was 3,3 % lower than in December 2009. It fell by 11,3 % to EUR 5,75 bill. last year. “The development of construction which was constantly falling during 2009 (with a slight increase of 0,1 % recorded in August), was influenced by several factors. The most important of these were insufficient demand for construction production, financial limitations, unfavourable weather conditions as well as the influence of the financial crisis,“ informed the Slovak Statistical Office.
