Constructors expect production decline of 7,1 % this year

Building production in Slovakia is expected to drop year-on-year by approximately 7,1 % this year, according to local firms. In the last research in February, the constructors expected a decline of 3,2 % in the sector outputs this year. Stabilization and return to 3,8 % growth should come in 2011 when 63 % of companies expect improvement of the situation in the sector. This year´s fall of construction companies‘ sales should reach 5,2 %. Qualitative Study of Slovak Construction Industry 2010, prepared by CEEC Research in co-operation with KPMG Slovakia and Ipsos Tambor, shows this. “The trust in construction sector has been declining in the long term since the end of 2008,“ said Dagmar Blahová, head of construction, upturn, science and engineering department at the Slovak Statistical Office.
