Slovak construction output grew less than the EU

The seasonally adjusted construction output of Slovak construction companies grew month-on-month by 1,3 % in June, according to Eurostat, whereas it increased by 2,7 % in the Eurozone. The construction output of the entire EU increased by 3,5 % compared to May. Compared to the sixth month in 2009, the Slovak production fell by 7 % in June. On the contrary, building production increased year-on-year in the Eurozone in June, ie. by 3,1 % and it grew by 5,4 % within the EU.

The largest year-on-year growth was recorded in Romania (16,5 %), Spain (7,2 %) and in Poland (4,5 %). The highest decrease compared to May was recorded in Hungary (2,3 %), the Netherlands (1,8 %) and Slovenia (1,6 %). In year-on-year comparison there was growth in 5 countries and a decline in 9. The highest year-on-year growth was in Spain (18,6 %), Great Britain (13,6 %) and Poland (10,2%). The highest decline was recorded in Hungary (19,6 %), Bulgaria (17,5 %) and Slovenia (16,9 %).
