Construction industry: production in Slovakia in November grew

November construction output in Slovakia developed month-on-month and year-on-year better than Eurozone as well as European Union average. Seasonally adjusted construction output of the Eurozone declined by 0.9 % and entire EU output weakened by 0.4 %. In November construction industry strengthened month-on-month by 1.6 % in Slovakia. On annual basis compared to the Eurozone construction output fell by 6.8 % and EU production has weakened by 1.7 %. Slovak construction output was enhanced yoy by 0.8 %. This follows from the information published on Wednesday by Eurostat, the EU statistical office.

Of the countries from which Eurostat has available data, construction output in November rose in eight of them, declined in four and remained unchanged in the Netherlands. The highest growth was recorded in Portugal (4 %), Bulgaria (2.6 %), Poland (2.4 %) and Hungary (2.2 %). The biggest decline was in Romania (-4,6 %), Great Britain (-1,4 %), France (-1,3 %) and Germany (-1,1 %). Construction of buildings in the Eurozone declined by 0.9 % month-on-month and by 0.3 % in the entire EU. Construction of infrastructure declined by 2.8 % in the Eurozone and by 1.4 % in the entire EU.

November construction output in EU member countries where Eurostat had available data, it declined in eight countries and increased in six. The highest year-on-year decline was in Spain (-30,2 %), Romania (-17,7 %)and Slovenia (-16 %). The highest increases were recorded in Poland (14,9 %), Great Britain (11,1 %) and in Sweden (10,4 %). Construction of buildings weakened yoy by 5.7 % in the Eurozone and by 0.7 % in the entire EU. Infrastructure construction declined by 11.7 % in the Eurozone and by 6.5 % in the entire EU.
