Šluknov area: unrests lower real estate prices

Unrests in northern Bohemia have substantial impact on the local real estate market. This has been particularly experienced by real estate brokers in recent days. “Yes, Šluknov region has been a hot topic lately, also in real estate. In essence, the influx of unconforming population lowered the demand for housing in this northernmost part of the Czech Republic,” says Milan Vršecký, owner of agency RE / MAX Synergy in Teplice. “Yet until recently it was a very sought-after region, primarily for recreational housing. Now the prices of local beautiful half-timbered houses are mostly below one million crowns. Flats here can also be purchased at very low prices. Local flats in prefab houses were sold into private ownership for ridiculous prices, which caused speculation in housing and thus partly created an unwelcome influx of unconforming people. This fact also contributed to the current situation,” says Milan Vršecký. A similar situation is now arising in the Mladá Boleslav area. Inhabitants of housing estates in Mladá Boleslav near Kaufland are starting to complain about unconforming citizens. There are several other troubled spots in central Bohemia. According to Peter Frey of RE / MAX, this situation has not significantly influenced sales so far.
