The planned building-up of the hotel near the Banská Bystica Memorial of SNP in the urban memorial reservation, against which 3 740 inhabitants protested in spring last year, became more realistic. The local authority approved changes in the town-planning scheme of the central town zone at yesterday session, which will enable to build-up the hotel in Kapitulská Street. It is connecting with the change of the planning scheme of agglomeration, approved last year in March, which changed functionality of the Memorial SNP area from originally green to civil amenity.
Sophistic Investment Company presented its intention to deputies to build-up the hotel, which bought the land under the hotel in year 2004 from the Museum of SNP yet. However, the deputy Martin Baník pointed out experiences with similar presentations in past. Other deputies pointed out, that approving the change of the town planning scheme the appraisal of variant solutions should predate as well as an international architectonic tender, the advertisement for bid of which the investor declared in the presentation. However, proposals to keep taking a vote on the town-planning scheme change in suspense as well as the proposal of the public discussion announcement to this problem the majority in the public authority refused.
Opponents of the hotel building and critics of the way of the hotel building preparation from public, whose did not take part in the local authority session, were disappointed from the deputies decision. „Inexpertness overcame expertness again, “Igor Teplan the vice-president of the Association of Architects of Slovakia commented the session and voting. „Regulations, which we determined today, will also be valid for the tender. It means that amount of mass, occupancy, level of parking are done in advance, “Tomáš Novanský the chairman of the coalitional parliament party Smer-SD – SNS, told. He supplemented, that the town cannot commit an investor so as to built-up what will be the result of the international tender.
