Stage 2 of construction of the Dolný Kubín waterpark has started
Stage 2 of the construction of the AquaRelax waterpark worth EUR 6.04 million, which should stimulate tourism in the Orava region, has been officially commenced in Dolný Kubín. “The waterpark should especially serve the population of Dolný Kubín and its close vicinity. People in Dolný Kubín will be given large discounts on entrance fees, which should range between EUR 2 to 17, depending on the specific services,” said Maroš Badáň, Managing Director in Aqua Kubín. The city wants to attract foreign visitors as well. “One of the possibilities is that we might contact our partner cities abroad and will provide their residents discounts, similar to those given to Dolný Kubín residents,” said Roman Matejov, the city’s Vice-Mayor. The construction started in July 2008 in the place of the former municipal swimming pool. The complex will include a sport zone with a swimming pool, an entertainment and relaxation zone with switchbacks, pools and whirlpools, and a wellness centre. The total capacity after completion will be 520 people.
