Wienerberger – profit fell by 59,1 % in the fourth quarter

The world´s largest brick producer, Austrian company Wienerberger finished its 4th quarter of 2009 with the profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) at EUR 31,1 mill. which is a fall of 59,1 % in comparison with the same period in 2008. Hemo Scheuch, CEO of the holding, said that the company remains careful in its forecasts for 2010 and it cannot estimate now when the sector will undergo recovery. Wienerberge is a company largely dependent on the stagnant residential construction, marked the highest losses in the Central and Eastern Europe and in the USA. In Slovakia, the holding operates through its subsidiary Wienerberger Slovenské Tehelne Zlaté Moravce which bought 2 additional brick plants – in Ružomberok and Martin – in June 2005.
