The reconstruction of Košice VSM is going on according to the plan
The first stage of the Východoslovenské Museum (VSM) reconstruction in the Maratón mieru Square at Košice, which began in late 2008 and be completed within one year, is going on according to the plan. In the framework of it the roof on the over 130-year old historical building will be completely repaired, the maisonette will be built-in in the attic, where will be created new office spaces and non-traditional exhibition space with the glass ceiling. An elevator, stairs and wheelchair access will be added. „Upon completion of the reconstruction visitors will be able to get to know other dimensions of museum exposures and collections presentation and experience tour the museum,“ said Robert Pollák, the VSM director and added that the intention is to create something unusual for Košice, which would attract visitors to the metropolis with the title of the European Capital of Culture 2013. The reconstruction is planned in several stages and involves complete rebuilding of the specific building, including the complex renovation of all engineering utilities. The project envisages the total amount for all stages of reconstruction of more than 6.6 millions €.
