The state has set a limit for construction of solar power plants

The state will not allow any number of solar power plants in Slovakia. Slovenská elektrizačná prenosová sústava – Slovak Electrical Transfer System (SEPS) will agree with the construction of solar power plants of total output of 120 MW with installed unit output from 1 to 4 MW and planned start of operation by the end of 2011. This is included in the new SEPS rules for giving opinions for the purposes of receiving the permission from Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic for building an electricity source on the principle of solar energy. The rules have been valid since 30th November 2009. SEPS sees solar or wind power plants as unstable, so called unpredictable renewable electricity sources (NOZE), with a high production fluctuation.
