Prices of housing property fell at the end of 2009

Prices of housing property continued to fall also at the end of last year. Národna banka Slovenska (National Bank of Slovakia – NBS) data, processed together with the National association of Real Estate Offices of Slovakia (NARKS), show the average price per square metre of flats and houses was at EUR 1 297 in the fourth quarter of 2009, this is a quarterly decrease of 1,9 % and a year-on-year fall by nearly 12,3 %. It was at EUR 1 344 in the entire year 2009. In comparison with 2008 it fell –  after 2 years of a 20 % yearly increase – by over 11 %. From regional point of view, traditionally high prices remain in Bratislava (EUR 1 715), followed by Košice (EUR 917) and Trnava (EUR 879) regions. The lowest prices remain in the Nitra region (EUR 652).
