Kaufland planning construction of hypermarket in Lučenec

A new hypermarket will probably be built in Lučenec. Retail chain Kaufland plans its construction. The construction of the shopping centre, costing approximately EUR 6,8 mill., is scheduled to start in May 2011 and to be completed 7 months later. The project should bring 60 new jobs to the town. The new Kaufland will provide nearly 3,000 sqm of sales space and more than 180 parking spaces. The superstore will ensure the sale of goods and services for a wide catchment area.

Retail chain Kaufland has been in the Slovak market since 2000. They opened 40 hypermarkets within the 10 years. Apart from hypermarkets, they also operate logistics parks and several meat-processing plants. Kaufland owns a total of 850 stores all over Europe and they employ 114 thousand people.
