Bratislava: new chief architect is Ingrid Konrad

Yesterday members of the City Council have decided to appoint Ingrid Konrad as the chief architect of Bratislava, on the recommendation from the Mayor. Chief city architect is expert guarantee of autonomy in the area of architecture and city planning. He/she is directly involved in making land-use planning documentation, enters into preparation of zoning plan of Bratislava and also ensures elaboration of binding opinion to investment activities. Municipal authorities wish the chief architect, together with the main traffic engineer, to have a final word in the assessment of future investment plans.

Ingrid Konrad is 51 years old. She studied architecture in Bratislava and Vienna. She gave lectures on architecture and public space at Vienna University. She worked in planning committee in Bratislava’s district of Vajnory. Today she runs a private architectural studio in Vienna.
