New Bond Street in London, Pařížská Street in Prague

London's New Bond Street is the most expensive luxury shopping street in Europe. The highest rents there reach €7,900 per m², while a square metre on Avenue Montaigne in Paris costs €7,500 and highest rent on the Moscow Stoleshnikov Lane is €7,015. According to a study by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLLS) on major European destinations with luxury shops, which surveys the presence of 100 best-known luxury brands in major European cities, luxury goods market recovered from the crisis much more quickly than expected. “Most brands have big plans for expansion to Asia and emerging markets, where a new group of consumers with high income and interest in luxury goods is emerging. However, the requirements of traditional luxurious areas in London and Paris led prestigious brands to restore investment in developed Western markets, via extensive modernization and expansion of existing business networks,” says Robert Bonwell of JLLS. Beatrice Mouton, head of retail team leader for CEE region at JLLS, adds: “Prague's main street with luxury brands – Pařížská street – reflects a worldwide trend and confirms its position among luxury retailers as the most sought after destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. Prague has recorded the highest concentration of international luxury brands in Central and Eastern Europe, and is of the same level as Vienna and Frankfurt. The crisis has not prevented luxury brands like Prada, Gucci or Fendi, from opening their stores in Pařížská street. They joined other prestigious shops such as Cartier, Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Given that the demand for vacant retail space is higher than their offer, luxury stores tend to expand into adjacent streets. "
