The OBI business zone will not be at Piešťany for the time being
The Piešťany municipal deputies stopped the building-up of the OBI business zone. The Germany Company Caller group intends to build it up on the 5.7 hectares land near Vrbovská cesta. The investment of 20 millions Euro would create 200 job positions. The change of the town-planning scheme from an agricultural land to an amenity ought to be the first step of the building-up, but deputies did not approve it. They argued by annexing agricultural land as well as by ecological vulnerability of the town from western side. „This land is a spare for amenities expressly. After the south bypass of the town is build-up, it will be being built here, the deputies only postponed it, “ Remo Cicutto, the town Piešťany major, expressed himself to the deputies voting. The investor does not give up after first non-success because it has had most of the lands in its ownership. It intends to concentrate other shops and services in the locality besides the hobby market. It will submit the proposal to the agenda of forthcoming local authority proceedings.
