The new sports hall at Nitra is used insufficiently

The new town sports hall in the Nitra housing development Klokočina, which was opened in February 2008, is not sufficiently used. „With grant funding for sports clubs to rent sports facilities and there are indoor sports, so we would realize them in maximal possible extent in our hall, because otherwise we support someone else and not ourselves,“ noted the mayor Joseph Dvonč. Estimated cost in the last year's town budget was 398 327 Euro, VAT excluded, in fact it reached 282 148 mills Euro. Revenues of the sports hall were 30 284 mills Euro last year.

The sports hall cost 6.87 mills Euro from the town budget. It serves for almost all indoor sports – volleyball, basketball, handball, squash, badminton and indoor football as well as table tennis and chess. It is primarily intended for performance sportsmen, but it is accessible to the public as well. It covers the area of 12 thousand m2. The sports area has dimensions of 44×30.5 m. In the auditorium there is 1 500 fixed seats, but the capacity can be increased up to 2 500. Its twelve-meter height meets the standards for the organization of international sports fights.
