An opal town project is being born in Slánske vrchy

The city of Prešov wants to cooperate on the project of an opal town in Dubník, which should become the biggest tourist attraction in the region. Its visitors could learn about the mining and processing of opal in the Dubník opal mines, 28km far from Prešov, in the centre of Slánske vrchy, visit old mining facilities or dive in the flooded Viliam mine. As Pavel Hagyari, Prešov’s Lord Mayor, said, the city hall wants to initiate the project, for which it could obtain funds from the European Union.
