Out of three PPP projects only R1 - the second one – is under construction
Out of three PPP construction and operation motorway sections projects is currently being fully realized only the second part on the R1 expressway between Nitra and Tekovské Nemce, including the northern ring road of Banska Bystrica. “Although, the construction is slowed down by archaeological findings from the 11th and 12th centuries in the area of Kľačany and Banska Bystrica at the moment, I am not aware of any other serious problems,“ said Transport Minister Ľubomír Vážny. The first part for building the D1 motorway between Martin and Prešov is currently waiting for project financial closure expected by mid-February 2010. Preparation of the third part of D1 in the area of Žilina is complicated by involvement of the European Investment Bank in the project.
