Znojmo has a shopping park

Znojmo’s first shopping park is opening in the place of a former brickyard on the outskirts of Znojmo. The park with a total area of 4,6 thousand sqm will offer a range of household products. The project may be expanded by up to 2 500 sqm. It will be opened in the second half of September. The developer is the company P.V.N. owned by an Austrian owner. It has been active in the Czech market since 1992 and has long-term experience in construction, not just of shopping parks.

There are nearly one hundred shopping parks in the Czech Republic today and their total area is approximately 500 thousand sqm (excluding food chains, furniture retailers and hobby markets). Most of them were built between 2005 – 2009. “Already last year we felt a significant slump in construction which will continue into the next year too. The developers have announced construction of approximately twenty new parks which should open in 2011,“ says Jiří Kristek from Cushman & Wakefield. Czech as well as foreign property developers participate in this year´s construction of shopping parks. Czech companies were building in Aš and Česká Lípa; Austrian and German firms have opened or will open new shopping parks in Znojmo, Chrudim, Prostějov and Sokolov before the end of this year. P.V.N., the developer of the park in Znojmo, plans to open a new park in Šumperk next year. They are preparing new parks in České Budějovice and in Most and the expansion of the current parks in Tábor and Olomouc in future years.
