Construction of renewable resources to be regulated by auctions
Construction of solar and wind power plants in Slovakia may be regulated by the so-called reverse auctions in the future. According to Ministry of Economy (ME), it will lead to selection of investors willing to build the power plants at a lower purchase price of electricity. “At the beginning of the auction, its duration with a maximum price will be set. The announcer will specify the maximum installed capacity for the year. Investors will present their bids for power plant construction knowing that those who will submit the lowest required purchase prices of electricity will be satisfied. This means that during the auction, pressure to minimize purchase price will be created,“ ME clarified. They expect the auctions to bring lower end electricity prices for consumers.
