Holcim and VSH to merge in Slovakia

The company Holcim (Slovakia) a.s. from Rohožník has started in an integration process with Východoslovenské stavebné hmoty, a.s. (VSH) from Turňa nad Bodvou. Both companies will continue to operate independently with their own managing bodies, but they will create a single company in the near future. As Holcim reported, antitrust authorities in Slovakia, Hungary and Austria had previously agreed to increase Holcim´s share in VSH. Chairman of Holcim Slovakia Alan Šišinački has become Chairman of VSH.

By this step, Holcim group continues to strengthen its position in Slovakia “VSH and Holcim Slovakia will work as partners and learn from one another with a clear objective – to be even more beneficial to employees, customers, suppliers and regions where they operate. The result will be leading Slovak supplier of building materials and services with more than a thousand employees, two cement works, a network of gravel-pits all over Slovakia,” Mr Šišinački said.

The main objective of both companies for forming one firm is to achieve the projected business and financial results this year. The current changes have no effect on existing contractual relationships with employees, customers or suppliers. The merging companies will initially focus on gradual establishment of common information systems and implementation of Holcim´s standards in finance, safety and health at work.
