Bratislava major insists on the Old Bridge taking over till the end of year 2010
Preparation of the Old Bridge repair continues according to the plan, by Andrej Ďurkovský. The nearest are planned injection and sanitary works of one from the bridge pillars, after them the repair itself ought to follow. In this case some damaged or failed parts will be replaced, other ones will be just treated. „The bridge itself including embedded rails has to be finished in year 2010, the major stated. Connection to Šafárikovo Square and putting the planned fast tram into service is possible in year 2011 by him, whereas he considers the Danube River over crossing be the hardest nut“.
The architectonic competition for future look of the Old Bridge ought to be re-opened. „I promised it and I insist on it“, Ďurkovský told. The term of the competition is not known yet. „The competition is sleeping some way. The force is needed so as it would start up“, Štefan Šlachta, the main architect, told. However he thinks that competition conditions could be looser and competitors would not have to be limited so much.
