Exploration drilling begun on the Bratislava Old Bridge approved by the County Sights Office Bratislava. It is located in the protection zone namely, as said Jana Murínová, the Metro Bratislava company spokeswoman. Work has started by drilling the support wall of the bridge from the Petržalka side and would continue towards the left urban bank of the Danube River. The result should determine the degree of damage and wearing of the Old Bridge, which is in disrepair. „The project of repairs must be also approved by the sights protectionists,” Murínová pointed out.“ The beginning of exploration works is planned for June, by her opinion. Repair of the bridge, which should cost about 18 million € and should be completed in 2010, is described as the start of construction of the planned carrier transport system.
