Occupancy rate at hotels reached 36,4 per cent in 1st quarter

Occupancy rate of hotel facilities in Slovakia in the 1st quarter of 2010 fell year-on-year from 36,5 % to 36,4 %. The average price per room has decreased by 16,7 % to EUR 77,36. The number of hotels in Bratislava is increasing at a higher rate than the number of guests. This causes pressure on prices, according to Lenka Besedová from Crown Plaza Bratislava hotel. Yield per room, the key indicator in this sector – fell year-on-year by 17 % to EUR 28,16 in Bratislava´s hotels. According to the quarterly report by Deloitte, the slow-down of the economic recession has not shown in the tourism sector. “Nobody can specify with certainty the influence of other factors, e.g. the volcanic eruption in Iceland, problems in the finacial markets caused by problems in Greece, strengthening of the dollar exchange rate or weakening of the euro,“ said Wolda Grant from Deloitte Slovakia.
