Sale of Bratislava airport may not guarantee an increase in traffic
According to Bratislava airport, it is questionable whether a possible privatisation or an entrance of a strategic investor would be a guarantee of a positive development in traffic. It is necessary to take into account the significant influence of the market, which is any case is an external factor, as it generates demand for air connections and in relation to that creates supply of connections. The centre-right government coalition of SDKÚ-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Híd are planning to secure the entrance of a strong strategic investor for Slovakia’s largest airport. “Experience with operating an airport after privatisation already exists in Slovakia. Košice airport where 66 % of shares are owned by KSC Holding in which Vienna Airport has 80,95%, ended last year with a 40 per cent year-on-year fall. Among 300 monitored airports, it joined the 10 European airports with the biggest fall in passenger boardings,“ informed the company Letisko M. R. Štefánika – Airport Bratislava.
