Sekyra Group: Construction at Rohanský ostrov to start in 2011 at the earliest

According to Luděk Sekyra, construction at Prague´s Rohanský ostrov will start in 2011 or 2012. Its urbanistic plan was recently approved by the city hall. In the first stage, residential and administration buildings with approx. 200 flats and 16 000 square metres of office space will be built on the 20-hectare site. Costs for building the 1st stage are estimated at CZK 1,5 bill. This is about one tenth of entire planned investment in this location. The location was acquired by Konsorcium Rohan from the city, Sekyra Group is the main player in the consortium. “There is no active property developer in the consortium, apart from us,“ L. Sekyra answered the question whether a partnership with another property developer is expected in the project. According to L. Sekyra, pacing of works in several stages does not put unfulfillable requirements on the company also in terms of financing. The construction should last until 2028. It is also expected that the project will be “self-financing“ after completion of the first stage. The architect of the project Rohanský ostrov is the architectural studio HKR Architects. According to the developer, inspiration for the project was Hafen City in Hamburg. The urbanistic concept is work of HKR Architects and Gehl Architects.
