Chinese investors increasingly interested in Slovakia
Advantages and potential of the investment environment in Slovakia was presented by commercial officer of Slovak Ministry of Economy in Beijing at investment trade fair with more than 400 foreign participants. The Chinese were represented by provincial governments, industrial associations, trade companies and development agencies. This year the Ministry has recorded an increased interest of Chinese companies in investments in the pharmaceutical sector, electrical industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture as well as construction of transport infrastructure and electricity production. In June the Ministry informed that 4 Chinese investors – from building and railway construction sectors – have expressed a real interest to invest. Also, the Chinese automobile company JAC Motors has expressed their interest to invest in Slovakia. According to David Wang, regional company director, it will be construction of passenger cars and light lorries. Another Chinese company Guangzhou Echom Science & Technology plans to build in Nové Město nad Váhom a plastic moulding plant for the TV set producer Universal Media Corporation costing EUR 29 mill.
