Building construction of Slovakia weakened/declined more than in the entire EU

Seasonally adjusted construction output of Slovak construction companies declined by 5,6 % in May; it was by 1 % in the Eurozone. Eurostat, EU statistical office informed about this. Building production of the entire EU fell by 0,6 % compared to April. Compared to the fifth month of 2009, Slovak construction declined by 10,6 % in May, this is a higher decrease compared to the Eurozone where it decreased by 6,3 % in May. Within the monitored member countries, output in the construction sector fell in 7 countries, it grew in 6 and it remained steady in France. The highest month-on-month decline was recorded in Romania (-6,6 %), Slovakia (-5,6 %) and Germany (-2,3 %). The highest growth compared to April was recorded in the Czech Republic (7,2 %), Poland and the Netherlands (equally 3,7 %).
