Banská Bystrica: former textile factory to be converted to multi-purpose complex

The premises of the former textile factory Slovenka in the broader centre of Banská Bystrica will start to be transformed into a multi-purpose complex including a hotel with a wellness centre and a gym, a shopping centre and flats from the start of 2011. Karol Konárik, singer and entrepreneur, informed about this. He owns the company KK Company – proprietor of the factory premises. “Currently we are just waiting for the building permit to come into force,“ he said. He estimates the investment at roughly EUR 30 million and the return on investment to be 7 to 10 years. The multi-purpose complex named Slovenka resort will be built on the total area of 14,600 sqm by converting the former administration, spinnery and sewing buildings as well as building 2 new buildings on the premises. An 11-storey hotel with a wellness centre and a gym and 3-storey parking house. 1st phase should be completed in April 2012, according to Konárik, the second one (hotel) by the end of 2013. KK Company purchased the land and buildings from bankruptcy trustee of the textile plant Slovenka.
