18 834 flats completed and 20 325 flats started last year
In 2009 construction of 20 325 flats was started in Slovakia, 18 834 were completed and 67 597 were under construction as of the end of last year. According to the Slovak Statistical Office, the number of started flats declined by 7 996 year-on-year, by 28,2 %. The number of completed flats increased by 1 650 (9,6 %) and the number of flats under construction by 1 475 (9,6 %). Last year, there were 1 208 fewer flats which is 56 % year-on-year increase. The number of completed flats in family houses increased by 6,1 % to 9 022. The highest number of finished flats last year was in the regions of Bratislava (5 982), Trnava (2 624), Žilina (2 472), Trenčín (2 065), Nitra (1 582), Prešov (1 568), Banská Bystrica (1 532) and Košice (1 009 flats).
